Keep in mind that using refilled cartridges may affect your warranty. If the warranty is up then using off brand will save you some money - provided they are done properly. The first time you get one that leaks all the money you saved just went down the tubes.
It all depends on the quality of the company doing the remanufacturing. Using remanufactured cartridges will not affect the warrenty of the printer, no matter what they say, that would be in contravention of many consumer protection laws.
