Ok, first take out the catridges, turn off the printer for a minute, then turn it on with out the catridges, it麓ll detect that doesn麓t have the catridges, the put them back and see what happens.

Yes it is hard.


For one they have a fuse on the cartridge that ';blows'; when the cartridge is empty preventing it from printing further. That needs to be replaced.





The printer itself has a drum unit attached (which arranges the image) that is designed for single use and needs to be cleaned.





Thirdly there are nylon gears and electrostatic rollers in a toner cartridge that need to be check and sometimes lubricated in order to yield optimal results.





Finally toner, should not be inhaled. The black toner dust is carcinogenic and should only be handled with extreme care including a fine particulate mask, gloves in a well ventilated area, preferably under a hood.

How do you sqeeze the last bit of toner out of my print cartridge?

My printer is a Brother MFC 8440 %26amp; our local supplier is out of stock until next week. I'm told that vacuum in the toner cartridge causes the printer to detect that it's empty, even though there is toner left. I shook the cartridge once and got another week out of it, but now it says tone empty again. Have a week before more stock comes in. Are they easily refilled by a novice? Cartridges are the TN-540 or 560.How do you sqeeze the last bit of toner out of my print cartridge?
Do what I do. PLace the cartridge on the edge of a counter..then take something long and thin like a knife handle, then place the handle part flat against the cartridge, With gentle, but firm pressure, press down and forward with one hand while hold the end of the cartridge with the other...basically you want to squeeze the toner left in the cartridge toward the opening, so that the printer will see that the top still has some left and will stop trying to squeeze the bottom.

I am not familiar with your specific cartridges, but many CAN be refilled easily.

the chip that is on the cartridge. The chip is what


measures the cartridge life.

Yes, the newer laser printer toner cartridge has a smart chip in it to prevent third party refilling the cartridge and re-use it. But I have not experienced the smart chip gave fault signal that the cartridge is empty when in fact it is not. But remember the cartridge that came with the new printer is just a starter cartridge and it is only 20 to 30% full. Yes. The chip is programed to be used ';x'; amount of times, before it tells the printer it is empty. This also explains why, even if you refill the cartridge, it will still say it is empty and needs to be replaced. Most printers have this, not just Dell's.
no, just dont know how many printout have you done, usually a toner catridges can print out approximately 2300 printout then no more ink, don't beleive it will print more than 2500 for laser home use model.

I just bought a Brother HL 4040cn Color Laser Printer. I'm having a hard time finding cartridge toner refills, first off.


Do you know where I can look for this particular model of toner refills? Or does it matter and I can just use any model?

I had a b%26amp;w laser printer. the refill was easy, I simply removed the plug, put new toner in, replaced the plug, and I was off. If you are very careful, it will not be messy.

It is easy to do but in my experience, both doing it myself and taking it to Staples and/or Office Max, the time isn't worth the outcome...





The refilled NEVER work as well as the new and if your doing something important, like business stuff, it isn't worth the 'savings'.

I have a home business also. I have tried the refill method and it is nothing but a hassle. I have bought refilled ink cartridges and they are worthless. I buy all my ink products on Ebay - and get excellent prices on brand name inks. You can save a lot of money. My color ink cartridge costs over $40 at a store and I bought two on Ebay for $14.00 and $5 shipping.
depends on which brand you are using.. for the most recent modern laser printers. changing the laser toner is easy. all you have to do is change the long triangular like cartridge. you can do it yourself. to put things cheaper.
Laster Printers use a Toner that is Carsnagenic, i personly wouldnt advise doing it. as if you accadently inhale it it will stick to your lungs like Tar from a ciggarette.
We tried a refill ONCE! It leaked! What a mess!!!





We spend the extra to get them new - no trust in the refills!

It sounds like one of two things - either the drum is losing its charge and needs replacement or there is something wrong with the black toner. Since you say color works and it started when you replaced the black, I'd suspect the toner.





Why don't you look for something or create a pattern which prints all 4 colors equally on the same locations of the page. If only the black has a problem, you know it's not the drum.
